EMMA HUA LEE
VIOLINist

Emma Hua Lee, age 9, began learning the violin in 2018 under the tutelage of her father, Victor M. Lee, and Esther DeGrunigen (who was also Victor’s first violin teacher!). Since late 2020, Emma has studied primarily with Anna Korsunsky and received occasional instruction from Professor Chinn-Horng “Nanette” Chen. At age 7, Emma had her orchestral solo debut with the New Philharmonia Orchestra under Maestro Jorge Soto where she performed Bach’s Violin Concerto No. 1 in A minor. She subsequently served as the soloist for Vivaldi’s Four Seasons (Winter) under the baton of Maestro Max Hobart and the Metrowest Symphony Summer Strings. She is excited to continue her journey tonight with the Reading Symphony Orchestra and Maestro George Ogata!

Emma is an alumna of Wellan Montessori School and presently a fourth grader at The Park School in Brookline. Besides playing the violin, Emma is an enthusiastic singer and swimmer, as well as a fan of curling. She is also an excellent role model for her younger sister, Evelyn (or so she would claim to her parents). Additionally, Emma loves Ancient Greek mythology and will happily regale you with tales of her favorite goddess, Athena, if given the opportunity.
